Layout Supervisor / Layout Mid

All levels

LAYOUT SUPERVISOR

· Requirements:

- 2+ years Supervisory experience on an Animated production.
- 5+ years of experience as a Layout Artist.
- Solid knowledge of Maya/Blender is essential.
- Good knowledge of other departments pipelines.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of both production and technical resources.
- An ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve.
- Excellent at communicating creative and technical thoughts and ideas in a positive, professional manner.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure.
- Encouraging attitude towards feedback and new initiatives.
- Basic modeling and rigging is an asset.
- Knowledge of film language.

· Responsibilities:

- Supervise Layout team in execution of camera lensing and staging, composition and blocking of scenes from storyboard animatics.
- Mentor, train, and guide the Layout team, in new software and through shot production.
- Review and critique the Layout team via dailies or weeklies.
- Provide bid times for all Layout tasks series wide.
- Collaborate with pipeline to improve Layout process and workflow.
- Ensure complete and seamless integration of all Layout assets within the pipeline.
- Create layout proxy objects for modelling team as needed.
- Create and implement camera rigs and templates at a series level.
- Communicate and work closely with the Series Director, and Storyboard Supervisor.
- Being responsible for defining the layout department workflow and disseminating techniques and common practices to the rest of the awesome team. This includes ensuring all workflows and results are of the highest standard.
- Providing detailed and specific feedback to the Layout department when necessary.
- Working closely with production to ensure all targets are met and identifying any issues that may impact the schedule.
- Overseeing the daily activities, leading the department, and establishing best practice workflows and guidelines for the team.
- Review, debug and improve other team members’ assets, workflows and techniques.
- Meet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with the production team.
- Working closely with management to guide artists overall professional development by providing performance feedback, mentoring, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale within the team.
- Be a positive and creative force in building a healthy work and team culture
Communicate with other supervisor and team leads on concerns and production issues ahead of time.

LAYOUT MID

· Requirements:

- 2+ years of experience in animation or film industry.
- Experience in Maya essential.
- Ability to interpret storyboards and realizes them in a 3D environment.
- Ability to clearly communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure.
- Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience an asset.
- Basic modelling and rigging are an asset.
- Knowledge of film language.

· Responsibilities:

- Create CG visualizations of storyboard animatics.
- Establish camera blocking, composition and lens choice.
- Pro-actively identify possible creative / technical problems with shots.
- Complete assigned sequences within scheduled timeframe.
- Ensure shot continuity.
- Keep current on previs techniques and technology.
