B-water Animation is looking for a Grooming Artist Junior to join our team!
Requirements:
1+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
The ability to closely collaborate with multiple departments including: Modelling, Look Dev / Lighting, and CFX.
Pro-active and self-motivated. You are able to keep an open communication with Show Leads, Supervisors, and Production and able to show progress with the tasks assigned.
Expected to meet with agreed upon schedules and deadlines while maintaining the expected results set forth by the show leads, and production.
Able to understand, speak, read, and write in good English
Proven experience with Hair and Fur groom in VFX productions and or high-end 3D animation.
Hair and fur knowledge in Houdini, XGen, Ornatrix or Yeti. Houdini preferred.
Familiarity with shader and texture map creation for hair and fur.
Proven experience with Maya/Blender or 3dsMax, among others.
Excellent technical trouble shooting skills and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of the process of rigging and simulation for hair.
Eye for detail and able to review own work to ensure highest quality grooms.
Excellent time management and prioritization skills with experience working under tight deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player who is also able to work independently with minimal supervision
Pro-active and self-motivated.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Must be flexible and willing to learn.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge in creating long hair, short fur or feathers.
Simulate hair and fur within the shot-pipeline.
The ability to closely collaborate with multiple departments including: Modelling, Look dev/ Lighting, and any other department required by production.
Expected to meet with agreed upon schedules and deadlines while maintaining the expected results set forth by the show leads, and production.
Ability to keep an open communication with Show Leads, Supervisors, and Production and able to show progress with assigned tasks.
Work closely with other artists to develop the creature’s overall look.
Engage at every stage of production including generating original concepts and designs, pre-visualization of complicated sequences, and research and development.
Working closely with the Creature Supervisor to determine the best approach to solve technical challenges and develop the final look
Must possess an artistic eye for form and colour
Prepares the approved groom for animation rigging.
Prepares the approved groom for simulation, including and not limited to creating the fur simulation rig for the asset.
